Walking, Fifty Years Later: Favorite Hiking Books

I discovered that in the Army you could acquire a month’s leave by volunteering for a worse duty assignment than you already had, and I exploited that to the fullest extent possible, until I had run of horrible places to volunteer for and actually had to go to one.
