i left home to go to town to see a movie. as i walked into a version of my childhood downtown, i was approached by a middle aged guy with brown/blonde hair. he was nice and friendly and walked along with me, talking. but he quickly became overly friendly, invading my space and holding onto me, almost guiding where i walked. i began to be concerned, so i made and excuse and made my way back toward home. he began to catch on to my reluctance and pressured me further. as soon as i saw a chance, i ran. i quickly saw i couldn’t remain ahead of him, so i stopped to figure out what to do and catch my breath.
i’d run into the heart of a campus and there were foreign-dressed policemen sitting on a bench in front of the building i was close to. i was considering whether to ask for help when- it gets sort of mixed up here. i believe i asked for help but they were slow to respond. not because they didn’t believe me. i quickly told how this guy was after me and he appeared at a run, supporting my story. he got close again, explaining to me how i really did want to go with him and wasn’t i acting so familiar before and how i’d better come with him again. there had been three big ropy-furred dogs out front, police dogs, and i called one with me. when the guy got me alone again, suddenly somehow around a corner or something where no one could see, i called to the dog and asked it to get him. i went thru several attack commands before it finally began to respond, more i think to my voice and the feeling of stress that what i was saying. it put on a great show of ferocity, then it lunged for him. the guy backed off.
then i was joined by an officer who took care of everything else. his name was jennings, according to his uniform. he took care of the guy somehow (i didn’t see) then he escorted me home. he was incredibly kind and told me i looked too young to be out alone. he asked me a couple of questions and told me how i had to be careful in the future, fine with me as i was scared enough that i never wanted to meet anyone new ever again. but i was already meeting him and most taken with him, the officer. he seemed to enjoy very much being in my company and after a while, the boss joined us. they both then walked me toward home.
as i was walking ahead, i heard jennings saying very low i love you i love you i love you and i turned slightly to let him know i heard him. he made a very smart comment about how ppl who knew me felt that way about me, but i knew he meant it for himself too and i was pleased. we came to a strange passage where i had to duck, almost crawl thru. it was too low for j2 but somehow he could step over it. then a plank walkway. then a odd set of bleachers where ppl sat and racks of donuts also cooled. i climbed it as jennings bounced/slid down fresh racks of donuts from the top to the bottom of the seats on their trays. then i tried to climb down, difficult because the wire that acted as a railing was very loose and wobbly, as was the footing. kids clung and swung on it but i was scared i’d fall and was quite careful. i saw jennings shake j’s hand and walk away. by the time i got to the bottom, he was gone.
and i dreamed earlier of a blonde man who turned into a white owl.
