Notes on the Day

We had a big day attempting to pull as many tadpoles from the pool as possible. We were quite successful, thanks to J’s massive shoulders and his ability to use the net to stir the depths of the pool and scare up the babies. Plus my neat new net, which foiled some of the tricky ones.

During the move, he found one of the tadpoles was growing his legs!!! Little LeRoy was finally becoming an adult! I’m so proud of him! One out of thousands upon thousands. When we checked the next day, we were unable to see many per square foot, so I believe we have moved most of the children. As it has turned bitterly cold, despite the supposed temps of 50s and 60s of degrees, we have to time our trips out to transfer them or risk pouring cold, filthy water down our shirtsleeves in the freezing wind.

The Roots, I love you, but I can’t watch Yo Gabba Gabba! because the puppets look like French ticklers.

We saw a commercial about a girl being nice to her little brother during a board game. I said that J would never allow that–her giving him a piece. He agreed and J talked about burning his bridges when he’s behind in games and I said wouldn’t that make Monopoly great!? If there were burning bridges? And you could choose when during the game to reach over and set yours on fire? And then the board is burning and the game lasts only as long as you can still move before it is engulfed in flame…
