Update 11/19/2009: The flu outbreak in Ukraine continues, with 45000 new cases over the last 24 hours and over 1.5 million sickened since October. The death count for Ukraine's flu and respiratory illness this year stands at 344, with 18 new dead in the last day. Anybody saying this is a planetbusting biological weapon can't do math. WHO confirms some swine flu cases and related deaths, but most fatalities are from complications of seasonal flu also rampant in the area. Since Stephen Quayle was on Coast to Coast AM with George Noory a couple of nights ago talking about giants in Afghanistan and the outbreak of 2012-quality flu in the Ukraine I felt challenged to go back and take another look. I want to say first of all, that I personally believe the mainstream version of this news -- that the flu epidemic in Ukraine is pretty normal and mild compared to most flu. The unique part is how extremely contagious it is, moving through the country so fast that they got a year's worth of flu and pneumonia cases in about a month. But, the death rate is low compared even to annual flu, and though I've looked on the internet and through remote viewing, I have seen nothing to indicate panic in the streets of Lviv or piles of bodies rotting in fields in the Ukrainian countryside. So I personally think the stories of a new version of Black Death are untrue. I'm on the side of the WHO, which just recently published test results indicating there's nothing at work beyond swine flu in the Ukraine.

That said, I still am curious enough to try and look for myself, and I did pick up a glimmer of something last night while out wandering around in shamanic Dreaming. I found myself standing inside a fenced perimeter looking at a long single story brown building with no windows and no visible door. I assume I was in back of the place and the entrance was on the other side, where I did see a gate and possibly a guard station in the fence. I didn't hang around long, just checking out the area, noting that a long low hill studded with widely spaced trees bordered the other side of the compound. It was well tended, not brushy, as though some attention was being spent on that, keeping the field of view open. The fence, which I was standing near, was of chain link too small for toeholds and topped with several strands of razor wire. Not unusual security, but enough to slow people down if they wanted in. There was about a hundred yards of open space between me and the building. It seemed like a storage depot, and my thoughts were mostly of guards and how to avoid them if I did any more exploration.

That was it, nothing big, but I went out looking for something of interest and that's where I wound up. I'm not seeing anything of dramatic quality happening in the Ukraine. Maybe I ought to go looking for the giants in Afghanistan instead. Hoping for a couple of good hits before I quit this, but if I don't come with something unusual pretty soon I'm leaving this for Stephen Quayle's rumor mill.
